It was like Christmas morn....

I'm probably gonna make this short. I went to sleep last night around 12:30 and woke up at 2:45 and have been up ever since. This morning was the first day of the youth waterfowl hunt here in Michigan. Mike and I took 2 youths (Caz and RyBoo). No, that's not their real names, they are Tyler and Ryan. Tyler has never been duck hunting and shot his first ducks today. He got the first one. It was like watching kids on Christmas when the shooting started! Even though Ike and I couldn't hunt, we had just as much fun leading these guys on a hunt!

FYI: The youth hunt is a special open waterfowl weekend for youths 15 and under. Mike and I took them to a new sweet spot we found and it paid off. Between the two of them, they brought 7 ducks home (2 mallards and 4 green-wing teal). But they also shot a Canadian goose, another mallard, and a wood duck that got lost in the weeds and we couldn't find.

It was a very fun day even though we were all running on just short of 3 hours sleep (and I still haven't gotten any shut-eye!). We came back in around 10 and went to the Point Mouilee Waterfowl Festival. Then the young'ns went home and slept and Mike and I went to Cabela's.

Here's some pics:
